Why you won't get your property tax bill in the mail this year

JUL 21, 2011

From the Triangle Business Journal:

“Wake County hopes to save $67,000 by mailing fewer property tax bills this year.

In the past, every property owner in the county received a tax bill in the mail. Now, to save on printing, mailing and postage, about 149,000 property owners who used a mortgage escrow account last year to pay their bill will not receive a copy of their bill in the mail this year.

Lenders have access to revenue department files and can retrieve billing information for the properties they service. Property owners who would like a copy of their billing statement can print a copy by visiting and selecting the "Search Tax Bills" option.”
