Cross Link Drive: Crews have started construction at the intersection of Dandridge Dr. In mid-February or early March, the contractor will implement a right in and right out only traffic pattern at the intersection of Dandridge Dr. and Crosslink Rd. During the roundabout construction, there will be no left turn movements at the intersection of Dandridge Dr., allowing the contractor to construct the new roundabout. Once the roundabout is complete, traffic will utilize the roundabout and exit at the desired street.
Tryon Road: There is a new traffic Pattern in place between Lake Wheeler Road and Cherry Field Drive. Crews shifted traffic to the new pavement along the south side of the roadway in this section. The shift allows the contractor to start work on the north side of the corridor.
Yonkers Road: The contractor is now in the third and final phase of construction along the corridor. The road is in a one-way traffic pattern between the I-440 ramp and New Bern Avenue. This traffic shift allows the contractor to rebuild the road while allowing access to businesses along the corridor.
The New Bern Avenue entrance onto Yonkers Road is now closed to all traffic.
If you are coming from I-440 traveling west, stay on I-440 to the Brentwood Road exit and follow detour signs to Raleigh Boulevard to Yonkers Road.
From New Bern Avenue, take the I-440 exit toward Durham to the Brentwood Road exit and follow detour signs to Raleigh Boulevard to Yonkers Road.
The eastbound traffic lane of Yonkers Road is open along the entire roadway, and traffic can still exit from Yonkers Road onto New Bern Avenue.
Both lanes of Yonkers Road are open to traffic between Capital Boulevard and the I-440 ramp.
The detour is scheduled to be in place through September 2021.
